Planning Ahead

wHY PRE-PLAN YOUR FUNERAL

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

That’s a good question, with lots of good answers. Pre-Planning your funeral arrangements can relieve family of some of the stresses, both logistical and financial, after your death. It also ensures that you have the style of funeral proceedings you would prefer.

There is no need to plan right down to the last detail, you can simply put a few things in place and let your family know some aspects to make the process easier to navigate come the time.

Visit the Cemetery and talk to the Manager to find out all you need to know.

DECISIONS - BURIAL, CREMATION or memorialisation

It is very important to let your family and loved ones know if you want to be buried or cremated. This takes a lot of pressure off everyone. You can also include this in your will. If you don’t care it is also important to let them know that as well.

CREMATION

There are four main options for cremated remains:
Burial - in an new or existing plot (if pre arranged)
Interred in a Collumbarium niche or Memorial Garden
Kept by family or friends
Scattered as per your wishes
KANDANGA CEMETERY COSTS: Purchase of a niche in a Collambarium wall for either 1 or 2 placements

BURIAL

If you would prefer to be burried, you can choose the location of your plot and purchase it in order to reserve the site. Think about whether you would like a single or double site (for a family member) and let the cemetery know when you are purchasing. Please refer to the 'Memorials' Pare for examples of headstones and to the 'Map' sections for locations within the Cemetery grounds.

memorialisation

Memorialisation of cremated remains holds the same significance for those left behind that the memorial does for a burial. The family may choose to take the ashes home and a memorial gives the deceased's friends and family the opportunity to remember and reflect on the life of that person. There is also a public record of their name at the Cemetery. With many people now tracing their family tree, memorials ensure that a permanent maker of that family member remains for future generations.

memorials and headstones

A memorial is a lasting tribute that honours and celebrates the life of a loved one. Kandanga Cemetery works with families to coordinate the approval, supply and installation of memorials and headstones throughout the cemetery.

Kandanga Cemetery Association works closely with its preferred memorial supplier to assist families with memorial options and installation requirements.

Different sections of the cemetery have specific arrangements:

  • Sections A & B: Families may engage an external memorial supplier, subject to approval from the Kandanga Cemetery Association prior to installation.
  • Sections C & D: Kandanga Cemetery Association coordinates the application, approval, purchase and installation process directly with families.
